@muncman Hi! Did you get any response on your question for a good ID theft mitigation service? / Did you find any yourself?

@odd The advice has mostly been to freeze my credit with all three bureaus. I haven’t found a really compelling service, though.

@muncman I have all our credit reports/agencies locked. I very rarely have a need to let someone have access. I know the locks work because I never remember they’re on until I do something, like apply for a new bank account, and get refused because they can’t get access. It’s an easy matter to unlock whichever agency I need and then re-lock it.

@ronguest Yeah, for sure. I just wonder if a service might be helpful with wrangling SSN exposures or anything like that.

@muncman Yes, that’s what I did too. I’ve got access to them, so if I should need credit, (which I’ve told myself not to do, after reading David Ramsay’s Total Money Makeover), I can open up temporarily to let a credit check through.

@muncman I don’t recall your locale but our AAA membership includes a basic Identity Theft protection. I wouldn’t pay for the service myself though but getting it ‘free’ is a benefit. There might be other ways to get it free?

@ronguest Ah, interesting. I don’t have AAA, but I’ll check our other policies. Thanks for the tip!

@ronguest I need to look into this. We have AAA. I have our credit accounts frozen with all 3
