@numericcitizen android's "openness", customizability and side-loading are overrated. Been on both platforms since the first android phone from HTC until the Nexus 5 (yeah, I carried two phones before), but I rarely customized the look and feel by having different launchers, etc., nor did I side-load applications outside of those that I (and/or friends) developed. I have a Pixel 5a now only to use GrapheneOS and try it out, and the experience *still* sucks! :)

DHH’s concluding words about testing an Android phone: I’m no fan of Google in general. And I still prefer the fit and finish of iOS over Android, but there’s something deeply appealing about having a phone where at least it’s actually possible to install Forbidden Software, like Fortn... blog.numericcitizen.me
