My Linux laptop has arrived. It’s a Galago Pro from System76 running Ubuntu. I got Vivaldi installed and everything is running well. The speakers are okay but nothing great. The build feels more solid than my Windows machine

@Cheri I had one from them a few years back. Good hardware and support. I did not like their Pop_OS version of Linux which is why I went with Ubuntu the sort of Everyman Linux. So far I'm liking it.
I did look at FrameWork laptops, but I didn't want to have to install Ubuntu on my own. Otherwise FrameWork has impressive hardware.
@bradenslen Ubuntu is nice! If you're ever in the mood to try a new desktop environment down the road (on Ubuntu), check out KDE (Kubuntu). It's pretty!
@bradenslen They just released their new mechanical keyboard and I want one! Haha. anyway, not running PopOS!? Intrigued with PopOS! just was not able to install it on an old Acer Aspire - so I ended up with Linux Mint.
Is that your main workhorse?
@rom PopOS was still fairly new when I used it running on a System76 laptop. All the problems I had were with PopOS. I was having to go to command line quite a bit under the instruction of System76 support to fix it. I mean what is the point of 'desktop Linux' if I'm constantly running fixes at the command line? The experience soured me on PopOS. Besides, I didn't find anything particularly compelling about it vs Ubuntu but that is just me. This time I decided to stick with what I know, Ubuntu. I've never had the sort of problems with it as I had with PopOS. YMMV.
On the other hand, I have used Linux Mint long ago and quite liked it. What do you think of it?
I'm still testing it with daily use but I think this is now my main workhorse.
@Cheri KDE does look nice. What in particular do you like about it that makes it compelling?
@bradenslen I like Linux Mint, but the Linux laptop isn't my main workhorse. I still use a Macbook Pro. :)
@bradenslen Mostly, I love the UI. 🙂 There are tons of nice themes, along with more customizations than I’ll ever use. I use KDE desktop widgets (sticky notes, for example) and it’s super zippy opening/switching apps via keyboard commands.
