Apple needs to think through their ‘remind me’ functionality in mail …

  1. you can only set ‘remind me’ in INBOX
  2. when you set ‘remind me’ - the message remains visible in INBOX
  3. if I move the message to archive, the remind me is cancelled

so why do I need it?

@jasonekratz

my own use case attempts to maintain inbox zero - using flags, reminders and snooze to resurface at the right time.

not to say I ever am at inbox zero mind you - but close enough.

for me - if it is in the inbox it needs attention. hence my complaint.

@jasonekratz I mean I can jump over to Spark and do the same thing and it gets removed from the inbox until the right time … but I was really looking forward to just one client ..

And given the mess that Spark seems to be heading towards .. I was hoping that mail might be it.

One of my accounts has fast mail .. maybe time to look more closely at that?

@jasonekratz yes it does … and despite the ‘store on their servers’ thing … I do use it AND apple mail.

I have tonnes of rules in apple mail that routes and files and rejects mail which reduces the inbox considerably.

Then I open spark and I can use its functionality for the ‘human triage’.

Spark has now got a new direction … spark desktop … which so far seems to be a bit of a cluster. Someone told me to set it to classic … can’t see how to do that.

So for now I have home back to mail plus ‘old spark’ … but eventually ‘old spark’ is going away .. so trying to get ahead of the curve.

My extra problem is too many domains … which i could reduce to 3 .. home, business and apple … but haven’t done that … yet … but if I was to go all in on fast mail … where my business mail sits … I would need to work out how to move my apple mail rules to fast mail rules …

Bottom line … the simplicity of my automatic email filtering hides the complexity of years of adding to apples rules to do it all.

@JohnPhilpin Spark, when set to the 'classic' interface, seems just about like the old version. In the upper left corner of the screen there will be a word, like "Smart 2.0" or "Smart" or "Classic". Poke it and you will see a dropdown with those three options.

@rogerscrafford aha … now I understand … and yes Spark does allow for that and I hop back and forth … I am talking about their new world ‘Spark Desktop’ which doesn’t appear to have that toggle.
