@matuzo For short quick ones I have used setapp.com/apps/gifox, available outside of SetApp as well

For bigger ones I have used ScreenFlow: telestream.net/screenflow/over

But I have been pondering using Capto instead, since it’s part of my SetApp subscription: setapp.com/apps/capto

@matuzo I use tape.app; it seems to work pretty seamlessly

@matuzo I tried several things for that, but I kept coming back to OBS. It’s not the nicest interface, but has all the features you need, is for free and works well.

@matuzo …and maybe macOS itself can do all you need. Did you have a look at presenter overlay? youtube.com/watch?v=4UAPOgl8lh

@matuzo
About a year ago I used Camtasia for these videos:

youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj3

It's from TechSmith and as I have used their very good screenshot tool Snagit for years and years, Camtasia was an easy choice for me when I needed a tool for recording some screencast video.

@matuzo I can not recommend highly enough Screenflow. It allows you to record multiple screens and applications. You can also plug in iPhone and iPad and capture them oh and multiple cameras and audio input devices. It’s awesome

@matuzo ScreenFlow is a beast and probably has anything you need built in. For quick short ones, I like to use Screen Studio a lot.

@dletorey @matuzo +1 to this. It's expensive though, plus you only pay for the current major version. When they launch the next major version they expect you to pay for it again

@DavidDarnes @matuzo the upgrades are at a reduced price though.

@matuzo I use Quicktime for screen recording as it’s already installed on Mac OS. For live streaming, I’ve had a good experience with OBS.

@matuzo Depends on what you need, if you really only need the recording (screen, audio, camera) and do your post processing in other software (or don’t do that at all) OBS Studio is good (plus you can use the same setup for live broadcasting as well (if that should become a need))

@matuzo I love Screen Studio for its ease of use and how it tracks your mouse position while recording, to then automatically zoom to the focal point of your recording (can be zoom can also be changed later)
