For paternity leave, my husband is legally entitled to the first six months at 67% pay, and then the remaining months at 50% pay, up to a year of leave, right? all well and good, fantastic.

HOWEVER, since the payments come from a different body and not from his actual company, the payments are delayed. not unusual.

we knew this but thought it was only going to be a month or so late

nope, FOUR MONTHS. for the privilege of paternity leave, we get to exist without any income for 4 months. ✌🏼🤡

(don’t @ me about not knowing, I was in hospital and had nothing to do with any of this)

so yeah, that’s entirely accessible and something that absolutely everybody can do in this country, gee I wonder why more people aren’t taking advantage of their legal entitlement to paternity leave /s

@pippa Not sure if you already know or how much your husband makes, but just so there’s no surprises there’s a maximum to the 67%, it may not be the full 67%!

@pippa I went through the exact same discovery. My HR was helping a lot but they failed to mention that during the meetings. And because I chose to still pay my taxes through the company, I was receiving an invoice and paying my company every single month and I have still not received a single sen

@japonmeneatout as a leftist, when i first met my husband i didn’t understand why he was so against paying taxes and always wanted to look for a loophole that would allow him to pay less, but after experiencing how little support we get from the country i am beginning to understand his position 😬
