I’m a Spingle fan. They’re a Hiroshima shoe brand, and I’ve had good luck with fit and durability. My old canvas ones rotted so I got these. 👟

@rickcogley I like the sound of them. Are the shoes made in Japan?

@mejh they are. They make a point of saying they are handmade in Japan. There's an English site which is a bit thinner content-wise compared to the Japanese one, in case you want to see that. www.spingle.jp/en/about/...

@mejh I have three leather pairs, and this canvas pair. The leather ones are either cow or kangaroo. The cow leather is thicker and seems like it would wear forever. The kangaroo is really soft and felt broken in immediately. The canvas pair is the exception, but the other pairs' soles feel really sturdy underfoot. The canvas soles are definitely thinner and more sneaker like. I have finicky feet and I like all the pairs I have. I got one pair, though, which was supposed to be more "eco", with a cordura upper. It was really waterproof, and really uncomfortable. I wore them hoping they'd break in, but I ended up giving them away. These: www.spingle.jp/c/spm/spm...

@rickcogley That's good to hear, thanks for the info. I'll try to get to a store in Kyoto next month to check them out.

@rickcogley In fact they even seem to have stores in Taiwan. But I'll still wait for Kyoto, as it's soon enough anyway, and they'll likely have a bigger range and better prices.

@mejh you’re welcome! They have a lot of shops in their listing. More than I imagined. I’d love to visit their factory one day.

@rickcogley these particular shoes are even more comfortable now after a couple weeks' wear.
