Here’s a cool manhole cover I found.
I’m not sure if this was intended, but after a little rain, the boat is literally gliding across the water 🥹

@FlockOfCats i had no idea people were so into manhole covers but every time you post or boost one it gets a bunch of boosts and i think it’s lovely 😄
@FlockOfCats is that depicting the “kawa kudari” in Kyoto?
@pippa
I did that a couple.of.yars ago on Twitter and Manholes were a hot topic always 😅
Not really sure why, I guess there are no other countries that put that much love in making them ^^
@FlockOfCats
@FlockOfCats there are SO MANY manholes, amazing. I found text about this one (for which there's a color version too): 【デザインの由来】(マンホールカード裏面の文章) この絵柄は「江戸川と矢切の渡し」の風景をデザインしたものです。 rojonomanhole.web.fc2.com/chiba/mat...
@rickcogley in between my bizarre trainspotting photo sessions, I developed a little secret hobby of taking pictures of the manhole covers in every new city I’d visit in Japan. Then one day I looked up and noticed every one was doing it, and became uninterested for a spell 🙄
@starrwulfe I guess I never really looked that much, although I did notice a colorful one and snap a photo of it, somewhere, at some point. It's a whole thing, it appears.
