The neighborhood in Totsuka Yokohama is really hilly. 📷💦
@rick every neighborhood in Yokohama is really hilly (unless you’re on reclaimed land)
My calves were like Popeye’s arms when I lived there.
@rick don’t forget the coastal flatlands along 産業通り、国道1号線と15号線 as well.
When I lived in Hiyoshi I’d regularly take 綱島街道 down from there and weave around the hills and valleys until I hit Rte 1 and then it was flat as a pancake.
Yokohama reminded me of Kobe, my favorite part of Kansai when I lived there, so it was kind of the reason for living there when I moved to Kanto.
@jlgatewood right, you mean out near hakkeijima and Costco?
@rick yep over that way — basically north of Yokohama up to Tsurumi and the other side of Kawasaki Station to the racetrack and beyond.
Going anywhere west of that point involves foothills, and I wasn’t ready for the narrowness of streets or the inclines when I drove around some of those places. But I do enjoy the scenery. Negishi and Isogo are the same way.
@jlgatewood I was in a taxi - a Toyota Crown - the other day and remarked how I’d just seen the new Crown at the dealer. The driver said he thought drivers in Totsuka would avoid buying it because it’s too wide at almost 2m.
@rick yeah that’s too wide!
I used to have a 1999 Benz E430 that was a pleasure to drive everywhere but the side streets in Yokohama and the hilly parts of Kawasaki. At one point I took a street where I swear someone could leave the front of their house, pass through my car and into the home across the street and never step on the road.
