BBEdit 14.1 write.as/jackbaty/…
@jack BBEdit and some other long-lived apps are probably the most important reason I’m still using a Mac. I just can’t use anything else. Every other text editor somehow feels wrong to me 🙃
@hutaffe I don't use BBEdit as often for writing stuff these days, but when I want to "do stuff with text" it's the first thing I reach for. So good. So fast. And I don't remember the last time it crashed or otherwise misbehaved.
@jack @hutaffe bingo! I use Emacs when working with drafts of academic writing because the key strokes for manipulating text, and working with code blocks in text are more or less essential. For nearly everything else, BBEdit. (I’d probably drop Emacs if someone made a plug-in to manipulate text the same way with only the keyboard.)
@hjertnes Check out the new version of Blink shell, it has built in VS Code integration. I’d still love to see a full version of Scrivener, and Audio Hijack with proper multi-channel recording to boot (I’m baffled why this still doesn’t exist on iPad except that it’s a backgrounding issue)
@pimoore the code thingy is interesting. But it should be possible to use it without going over the internet
@hjertnes It does have the ability to add and edit local files/folders on your iPad. This video I watched on YouTube goes over how to set up the files access a bit later in the vid.
