It’s always fun to watch tech pundits talk about how RSS is dead. No, it isn’t dead. Y’all just stopped taking control of your reading. The rest of us still rely on it daily.

@baldur I guess "dead" is considered Top 4 Tech Companies and Major Browsers no longer supporting RSS? Just because people's attention has been drawn away from RSS doesn’ mean its dead! Hell even IRC isn't dead1 🤣
@baldur But I still find it interesting in the company where I work I'm the only one of the developers activly using RSS. And in my circle of nerds and geeks I think there are also not many more using it.
@smokey I think a lot of tech pundits and journos just assume that everybody uses the same tech the same way. The idea that actual use in the real world varies doesn't seem to cross their minds.

And that current usage part kinda omits the fact that it's still baked into pretty much all blog systems and cmses (even Medium supports it). And it's still a very popular interop solution for connecting sites to things like newsletters. It's dead in the same way that indoor plumbing is dead 😄

@baldur I couldn’t agree more! Just because something isn’t visible at the surface doesn’t mean it’s dead! The ignorance of the multitude never ceases to amaze me 🤣
@baldur Probably so. I feel like at least some of them are harping on it repeatedly out of spite or something, though, rather than just ignorance of other usage patterns.
