I just purused through the “Dicvoer” section (which I guess lets you Discover public posts of other people you don’t follow?) – First thing that I wonder… “Why does no-one use their real name?” Seriously?

@prologic Oooh I see now... Its just displaying "Usernames"; But if you click on someone's username most do in fact use their real name :D Good to know. I guess the issue here is I have no one or know no one to follow on this platform :D
@prologic We’ve talked about the username vs person name thing before, and I believe the goal is to put more emphasis on the person name (Sunlit and third-party apps like Icro and Gluon already do).
Keep checking Discover (and its sub-sections for topics that interest you) to find people who interest you, and come Monday there will hopefully be some Micro Monday recommendations, too.
@smokey ahh sounds good ! But to be honest I think what I see now is just fine you get used to the usernames and people I think are actually using their real names in their profile so it’s all good 😁
@prologic You’ll often find people using other people’s names in the text of their replies, too, as just another element of our human focus around here.
@prologic I joined mb more than two years ago with a clean slate. That is, I knew no one here. But it was evolved to be a very vibrant community and everyone is super nice 🙂 After the FB/Twitter debacle, I’m fine with people not using their real names although a vast majority on mb do. Perhaps it’s all about feeling safe and having a sense of belonging.
