You keep seeing articles about retail is dead - the high street stores can’t compete … and then you see the online stores opening ‘real world’ stores … it is clear that the high street doesn’t know how to compete … and that is the problem.

Warby Parker for example …

@JohnPhilpin Even the main villain of killing ‘real world retail’ Amazon has brick-n-mortar stores now. Plus it bought Whole Foods

@smokey

Didn’t see that one - but I pushed this one out yesterday

I think there is a deeper problem ... W(T?)F might have changed their rules but lots of companies have limits like that ... which highlights the issue of ‘healthcare when dependent on employment) ... another USSoecific healthcare ‘feature’ - and it totally works against people who work many jobs to keep it together .. the working poor.

@JohnPhilpin The CNBC article missed the real kicker—the WFM cuts came right on the heels of Bezos and other big companies signing a pledge saying the purpose of a company was not just to enrich shareholders, but also to be responsible to their employees and the communities in which they operate. Clearly that pledge is worth about the sheet of paper on which it was written :-P

And, yeah, the minimum hours/heathcare dependent on employment issues with our current system is another thing the Medicare for All folks really need to shine the spotlight on.
