I read something this past week about ‘feeds and posts’ - and I know ‘we’ do all know that the difference is there - but ‘we’ are also aware that it is not always understood … I think maybe @SimonWoods mentioned it recently? Anyway - I was about to reply with something I considered to be an excellent ripo... john.philpin.com

@JohnPhilpin Meaning of the word "riposte"? Also, I have no idea what I was saying about "feeds and posts" but now I'm curious 😂

@SimonWoods oh - sorry - will go back and fix that - but 🔗 how about this.

As for whether you are the source of that comment - well, I did look through your recent posts - but couldn’t find anything ... maybe in 'replies' - any way long/short is that it was commenting on something like how (some) people write a blog - meaning that they wrote a post .. there is a difference.

@JohnPhilpin Oh yes! I remember that. You know, there are days when it feels like we're destined to start a "Fussy Over Words" club of some sort.

@JohnPhilpin @SimonWoods It's something I used to be pendantic about but nowadays don't bother to correct people. "You create/set up a blog. You write on your blog. You write a post on your blog. You definitely don't write a blog.

@JohnPhilpin Loving this pedantic discussion (or on pendantics?)

I can be convinced on. "writing posts for my Substack" but still think I write posts on my blog but write posts for someone's else's blog. Unless you imply that if I am writing a post in Drafts to post on my blog, I may be writing a post for my blog as opposed to if I was writing a post using Micro.blog's 'Write Post' window in one of the official apps.

@pratik what if my Substack is my blog?

Literally this morning on Tedium (which is not on Substack - but could be ...)

Today in Tedium: As you may know, Tedium is a blog and/or newsletter (we haven't decided yet--I know, surprising nine years in) focused on questions that you never bothered to ask yourself, but are suddenly consumed by the second you hear them.

@JohnPhilpin Then you don't refer to it as Substack but just as your blog. The same can be said for Blogger, Typepad, etc. We never said, I'm writing for Blogger unless well, you worked for Blogger.

@pratik it doesn’t relate to this thread at all - except it kinda does - and funny - posted just this morning.
