@pratik I am sorry for the attack you had to endure and am grateful to see that you are still here. Whilst I do not believe it is right in any way for anybody to presume you ought to act with such grace, it was a sight to behold. Thank you for being here.

@pratik @SimonWoods I can't echo Simon's words enough. The way you handled the situation was firm, but composed and levelheaded. If ever I'm in a similar situation in the future, yours is behaviour I would be happy to learn from and emulate.

Respect.

@SimonWoods @pimoore Thanks. Plethora (it means a lot 🙃). I appreciate your words and I only indulged in the debate because I knew it would be received as intended here on Micro.blog. All of us act differently depending on our environment. This is the place I feel safe to express my opinions about the state of the world. But I'm also open to learning new viewpoints.

I wrote this post nearly 20 years ago. Perhaps I should write a sequel.

@pratik @simonwoods @pimoore I'm not sure what I missed, but I think I'm glad I missed it. @pratik, you are one of the most interesting and gracious posters that I read on here. I'm surprised someone attacked you. As a white non-majority religion person living in SE Asia (with all the privilege and sad, post-colonial baggage that entails), I especially appreciate your perspective as a South Asian, non-religious person living in Austin. Your comments often remind me how people see things in the world where I grew up (Texas) and how people are seen (or left unseen). Keep it up!

@SimonWoods @pratik Couldn’t have put it better. I missed this and the recent “news” news on Micro.Blog due to time differences but just catching up today on occurrence’s you handled a situation you shouldn’t have been presented with in the first place amazingly.

@pratik That's a great post. The sequel is definitely more than worth considering. I've been thinking about the longer form blogging I want to do now that the negative effects of the move are beginning to abate, and posts along these lines are now in contention. At the very least I imagine the attempt to write them is quite useful.

@pratik About how old were you when you wrote that post? It’s very well thought through. I had some of the same (previous) views in my youth and early adulthood.
