@jarrod You canāt sign into YouTube to get videos from your subscribed channel unless you are on YouTube Premium?
@pratik From what Iāve seen, thereās no auto-import of channel descriptions at this point. The Follow Channels feature does require the Play subscription, but itās a manual* process even then. But nothing requires a YouTube Premium subscription, except you can sign in with your credentials to not see YouTubeās in-video ads. (*Thereās a shortcut action that could be used to whip up a a quick way to follow a bunch of channels, and supposedly you can get your list of subbed channels from Google Takeout.)
@jarrod @mactanaka @pratik Update: I made this shortcut to help with following all your existing YouTube channel subscriptions in Play all at once.
@jarrod so, this is awesome and I canāt believe I didnāt know about this app. I have a feature request I need to send overā¦
@mako āYouāre going to wonder how you lived without Play in your life.ā Nailed it. š Marcos has always been receptive to ideas in my experience. Shoot over an email and Iām sure heāll get back with you.
@jarrod Cool. Iām still figuring out the Play app. I first downloaded the Mac app but see that the iOS one is a bit different in terms of settings. I ran this shortcut on my phone but it said, found 0 channels. Do I have to first open Youtube?
@pratik Itās probably best done on macOS and from the YouTube website since itās easiest to select all the text on your subscriptions page there (cmd-A). Once youāve copied that text, run the shortcut and it should pull out the channel URLs from the clipboard and work from there. (Demo video) But if you run into any other issues, please let me know!
@jarrod Stupid Q - do I need to upgrade to Play Premium? Coz I ran it and showed me the message - Followed XX Channels - but nothing shows up.
@pratik Ah, yes, the Follow Channels feature is part of the premium subscription. I should mention that on the webpage. You can try it free for a week if you want, though!
