@jsamlarose To your last point: yes, unless you manually @-mention a user, they will not be notified. It avoids unintentional spamming, I guess at the cost of having to put some thought into whom you want to see the reply.
Since you can add a post to multiple categories I don’t see a clear difference between them and tags, and that’s how I use them. It does help searching my own posts (especially when paired with MarsEdit)

@pratik @jsamlarose Yeah, the downside of micro.blog is feature requests often don’t seem to fit in the plan. Or, if they do fit it may be awhile before they can be implemented.
@Denny feature requests in a mature product are always things not necessarily a part of the plan— or at least are pretty far from the original plan.
@Denny Apart from recent efforts, is there a plan? One thing I love about Glass is its ability to say what is unplanned. That way, people who are looking for one of the requested needs can move on.
@jsamlarose categories and tags are essentially the same. They’re both different names for what Hugo calls taxonomies. You can safely add as many as you want to a post. I strongly recommend MarsEdit to search your own posts if you’re on Mac. I’m pretty doubtful there will ever be a form of search. Just like the big fight on Mastodon, lots of people associate being able to be found with harrassment.

Searching my own posts is actually probably less of an issue now that I’m settling in with Drafts as my main client for authoring…
