Just learned that, by default, Micro.Blog only includes JPGs in the photos page. So if I want to add illustrations to my blog posts that I don’t want mixed in with my photo gallery, I can just save those as PNG. Clever solution.

@JohnPhilpin I'd noticed that some images were added to the photos page and some weren't, but couldn't figure out the pattern. Saw another post this morning that connected the dots for me.
@pratik Oh! That would make sense. I wasn't sure what the reason for the feature was... I wanted to share typeface design work on the timeline, but I didn't want those examples to be in the photos page. I can easily export that design work as PNG files and it fixes my problem.
@JohnPhilpin I think it’s a recent addition coz I use lots of screenshots but wanted to prevent them from appearing in the Photos page. @bobwertz
I don’t usually have a photos page on my blog - because I really don’t do photos - but just put one up to explore more.
There are plenty of png files showing up - for example - any one of the daily stoic quotes are png files.
What the photos page seems to be doing is selecting the first picture featured on the blog.
Another example - the second image is actually a jpg - but ignored by the photos page.

@JohnPhilpin Strange. Here's the help document that I found this morning. Looks like there is a way to change the setting...
@JohnPhilpin @bobwertz @pratik The Photos page has been JPEG-only for a few years; like with a lot of Micro.blog, you don't necessarily notice improvements until they become useful to you. I'd say it's a good thing overall, even though it could be easier to find such features (that's a tough problem to solve).
John, there is a plug-in for changing the "first photo" behaviour for the page. That may or may not help with the PNG issue, which tbh, sounds like a bug cc: @help
@SimonWoods @JohnPhilpin @bobwertz Not sure why I hadn’t noticed. Last time I was building my Photos page, I was trying to avoid displaying the screenshots I use in my posts. Finally I used a plugin that let me specify posts belonging to only certain categories should be featured. I’ve disabled that feature so let me check if it works.
