@pratik I consider it a good thing; several of my friends who don’t care about politics saw this message and learnt what G20 even is. As long as the tone of such a message is not overly biased, it’s better than seeing the stream of Swiggy and Zomato notications. XD

@uncertainquark Unless the mobile carrier is a public company, this just seems desperate. The message in itself is crafted sloppily. Imagine if companies started sending out such messages to “educate” people on everything. Also, chairing the G20 is nothing great.

I agree but have you seen how most Indian government orgs tweet? EVEN THE MOST MUNDANE INFORMATION IS FULLY CAPITALIZED and/or they use #tons #of #hashtags #for #no #damn #good #reason. 😂

In any case, yes, at the very least the DND setting should be respected even by the government.

@pratik @uncertainquark i can say for sure that my eyes are not looking at India … I didn’t even know that there was a rotating presidency 😋

@jemostrom That’s what I was thinking. No one in the rest of the world gives a shit about G20’s rotating presidency. It’s just another effort by the Modi government to stir up nationalistic sentiments by using private businesses. But it’s also insidious so that any criticism of the government is spun as criticism of India which is not at all the intention of most dissidents. I find such efforts at seeking external validation over minor “achievements” very offputting. @uncertainquark @supremus

@pratik thank you, I’ve now learned what “hirs” is called in English! The only thing I can remember that I’ve used it for is food for budgies.

@pratik It’s a FAO initiative. And given millets’ tolerence for drought, it’s not so daft in a climate crisis.
