I know I can Cmd+Click to open a link in a new tab instead of the same one. But I want that to be the default behavior i.e., Cmd+Click to open in the same tab and just click to open in a new tab. Checking the Open pages in tabs instead of windows doesn’t make any difference.

@pratik Unfortunately, that's not possible out of the box. Definitely solvable with an extension, but I don't know if such an extension exists. If you're comfortable with scripting, you could also roll your own solution with Userscripts (or similar).

@sod Yup! Just wondering aloud why the other behavior isn't a default. Now to figure out how to do this via Userscipts

@sod I tried figuring out userscripts and looked around on the web too. Posted on Apple StackExchange.

@pratik Okay, hopefully, someone will get around and help you out there. If not, I can always fit short development jobs like that into my schedule if you need it bad enough to pay for a solution. You know where to find me. 😊
