@Gaby Oh, I remember Wall. I had worked with David (wonderful person) to create it for myself first. It was fun. I still like the simple writing interface :-)

@Gaby Quill was the inspiration, but without a need to setup Micropub server (I had also written one, if you are looking for it).

@pratik I am still in the , playful / experiment / let's see where this goes stage, loving the fact I can still use Ulysses and even update poasts from it, in real time. The only tricky part is the images. But yeah

@pratik What made you decide to move long form post to something like Blot rather than have everything on micro.blog?

@jeffperry The reassurance that I always have text files (in Markdown) with all longform content with me even if Blot vanishes overnight. Initially, I was using MB only for micro posts. I wouldn't lose sleep if I lose my micro posts. But now with MB's new features, I'm cross-posting my long-form on MB too so technically everything is on MB.

@Gaby Yup. Using up space on my free Dropbox account makes me hesitate when using images. BTW @jmreekes has some excellent iOS/Mac Shortcuts to upload images, get their markdown code and auto-insert in posts.

@pratik Gotcha, I was considering Blot but I love the features and community of micro.blog that I am going all in on this platform.

@jeffperry You can always syndicate your Blot feed to the MB timeline. Or cross-post as I do now.

@pratik yup, I have those, to use with Drafts. Also some shared a short cut that does the same, it lets me select multiple images and give me Imgur links, that way I dont have to upload to my Dropbox. I am jst not sure where those images would permanently live/be hosted? I mean, important images most like be post here, if i where to go half-into blot.

@Gaby I would love to see the multiple images to Imgur shortcut. With limited space on Dropbox, that's also my concern but then at least I have a local copy of all content including images. I see the ruins of Twitpic everywhere so would hate to host images on a free hosting service.

@pratik here I can’t tell that there is some hosted account attached to this, which is what makes me “questioning” how this generated links actually work

@Gaby File type invalid (1) error. I guess this must be uploading to an unsigned-in Imgur page. Yup, I too would prefer if it were at a place where I could sign in later and see the images I have uploaded.

@pratik ha! apparently theshortcut is designed to upload photos anonymously. or you could use Mimi uploader, basically upload them to mb uploads and use the link 😁😉

@pratik That’s understandable. I think @Gaby got the shortcuts from an iMessage group I posted them in

@jeffperry Blot is excellent. I’m keeping my site on Blot but I’m gonna focus my time here because of the new features and the wonderful community.
