@Burk Oh very nice! I had Gmail setup like that until this week, when I pulled the plug on It. I blame you for the final bit of push to delete Gmail. š
@Burk but you do have to switch all your emails to Fastmail .. right?
I have spent so much time building my mail rules .. too much hassle to move them ⦠where is my ārules portabiltyā ā¦
I also took a tip from @rosemaryorchard and set up a rule in keyboard maestro to open mail in the middle of the night ⦠in case it was closed ⦠so all rules are applied and synched when I wake up.
@JohnPhilpin not really switch them. Fastmail acts on your behalf to fetch. So by logging into one Fastmail account I have access to send/receive from 6 different email accounts from various providers.
@Burk Not sure I get this part:
> Now I just have Fastmail grab the mail from them all and funnel them into one place. This is slightly different than a standard āforwardā in that I can still reply from each individual address, so there are no issues there.
Are you forwarding your Gmail to Fastmail? I donāt want to import my existing Gmail to Fastmail but I would love to get my Gmail email in Fastmail. Is that what you are doing?
@pratik Correct, Fastmail essentially is checking my other 5 email addresses and delivering them as they are available. You can import all past stuff, but you donāt have to, itās an option. Itās nice becuase you can then still receive from those addreses and also reply as that address if needed.
@pratik I am not 100% sure as I donāt have gmail, but all the others upon connecting them it asks if you want to connect and import, or just connect and get mail going froward from now.
@Burk Ah! Got it. I didnāt realize we would have an option to not import. Set up both my GMail accounts. Now š¤š½
@JohnPhilpin @burk @pratik am half-way through my Hey.com trial and torn between that and my FastMail sub. Love that I can use my own domains on FastMail at a lower price than Hey.com. Workflow is a bit different, but creating rules to triage incoming email isnāt that difficult.
@rom Had that Gmail account since the early invite only days. Not sure Iāll ever be able to shutdown my full Google account tho. Was in the Android ecosystem for a while and would loose a lot of app purchases.
@Burk I think Fastmail sounds great, but the $$$ of trying to set it up for a family of 6 people + a couple of shared accounts has always been daunting.
@Burk Just confirming, if I forward my email to Fastmail and have SaneBox running on that Fastmail account, does SaneBox filter everything forwarding to that Fastmail inbox?
@JohnPhilpin pixel tracker blocking and rules. Blocking trackers can be done on the network level. Rules for triaging is easier on Hey, not that it canāt be done on FastMail (takes a few more steps).
@mcg well, same here - early adopter here too - Google and Android. Still have account there that I keep alive but that is it. Nothing much there. Was iPhone first though - so not that much purchased on Android.
@sku_b ooo ummm. I am not 100% on this one as I am not using Sanebox these days, but It should be considering itās all āone accountā from the perspective of Sanebox.
@gpittman @burk OK, I can confirm SaneBox still works in this manner. It took me a while to get something delivered to me for me to see it. Iām running a trial of Fastmail now since I like the idea of having an email address with my domain. I also see they treat tracking pixels the say way Hey does.
