I can haz COVID-19 vaccine! Got my first dose today via UT Austin Health.
@Burk @Munish @simonwoods @philly @maique Thanks :) Feeling perfectly fine so far. Slight soreness in the arm. I'm told the second dose has more serious side effects. But bring it on!
@ronguest Thanks. But I got caught up in long lines. Took me over 2 hours. Apparently a link got out over the weekend that ineligible people used to get an appointment. But also, UT received 10k doses this week compared to 2k per week in previous weeks. There were plenty of appointment slots on their portal so I’m guessing they didn’t ramp up better.
@pratik Excellent news! I got my parents registered today, but it looks I’ll have to wait for a while.
@purisubzi That's great.I too am waiting for my parents (both 70+) in India to be vaccinated. Has the registration just opened up? I recall my dad mentioning he already has at the Municipal Corporation.
@pratik Yes, the registration website opened up yesterday; fairly painless process (requires an ID and a phone number).
In case you aren't tech savvy, private hospitals allow walk-ins, but that's just a matter of chance to find a slot when you go. Vaccinations at private hospitals are paid (but just ₹250).
If your folks require help, let me know.
@pratik Rubbish govt. IT practices, disallowing visits from non-Indian IP addresses 😕. If you have relatives in India who can do this, please send this to them, else I am happy to do it. I am part of the M.b Signal group for DMs.
@purisubzi Thanks a lot. I’ll make sure they get registered. I’ll reach out if I have any questions.
@pratik Yep that was same for me. We're going to try to plan some downtime around the second dose, just to make sure we don't get caught out by the side effects.
