@aa The baby who wears these will be too young to fully appreciate them. But I suspect the mother will appreciate them as treasures (not token gifts) to be used with pride & passed down as family heirlooms. She will see the love in them. Very well done, sir.

@aa You're welcome, you're doing good work. One glorious year I was a street artist in San Francisco just before they legalized it and for another year or so after they did. We sold on the sidewalk in front of Aquatic Park & across the street from Ghirardelli Square. We made & sold leather belts with a choice of dozens of different buckles. We would dye the belts on the street, which drew the tourists in to see the work. They would pick a buckle and a belt strap. We'd cut the belt to fit them and attach the buckle with a brass flathead screw. $10.65 with tax. Your last two products you've shown here would have sold like hotcakes back then, especially the baby shoes. That was 1971-72.

@aa Indeed, it was!

I'd like you to make a belt for me. I didn't save any belts from our hey day for when my waist had expanded. I can now buy a belt lots of places, but not with our brass fastener that made it easy to change buckles. I DID save a LOT of really nice buckles, but I want to wear them, not just have them in a box.

I think I can supply some of the brass fasteners we used, but It might take a while searching through the basement. If you're willing, I'll start looking. 🙏

@Ron What a kick. I was just finishing high school (San Francisco) and stamping leather belts in my garage. I also had a part time office job and my coworkers scooped up my belts at 4 bucks.

@aa Hot diggity dog!! I spent some time in the basement today but did not find the can of brass fasteners yet. I did find some of my leather tools, so I'll keep looking. I did find one of my belts that I wore for many years, 33" waist. A bit too small now, ha ha.

@Ron Actually it was the same timeframe as when you were selling. I was a novice and did all the work, cut with a straight edge, stamped, dyed and painted. It was tricky attaching the buckle. My coworkers were getting a bargain.

@aa I'm sure they will. I have a LOT of floor to ceiling shelves that are pretty full. Eventually they will be documented on a searchable computer, but not yet. 💻

@poetalegre My belt making & selling days are among some of the happiest days in my life. A new belt is an accessory that instantly brings joy & appreciation to the buyer. We always parted as friends. And they ended up with something that was really useful for a verrry long time (years!).
