I did something a little strange today. I visited the place I’m considering as my final resting place. Even though both my wife and I want to be cremated, we also would like someplace our children can visit once we’re gone. Cathartic in some small way.

@indw We performed my dad’s interment recently, and both my parents (mom is still alive) have a shared niche in a wall at the cemetery. It’s actually really nice, and doesn’t have the worry of overgrowth that a plot in the ground would. Not sure if you have them available, but it’s another option to consider if you do. I’m very happy my parents will both have a place in their honour that I can easily visit, and doesn’t require a lot of maintenance.

@pimoore I did see those as well! I took a tour and still exploring options, but that seems like a good one.

@indw Thank you kindly. He actually passed away near the end of 2021, but between the pandemic and my mom’s health declining a few months afterward, it got put on hold. I had the honour of caring for his ashes at my house in the interim, but it’s comforting to finally lay him to rest and have some closure.
