The new HomePod downgrades the WiFi and the number of speakers overall. Yes, the speakers are likely better quality, but this feels like such a bait-and-switch. And the price is still astronomical. Quite disappointed with Apple.
@pimoore They don’t produce the A8 anymore and switched to the S7 which doesn’t support 802.11ac. Perhaps they could have switched to another A-series chip, but I’m guessing it is overkill both in cost and capability.
@mindofaaronw @teisam That’s really disappointing, especially as ac-wifi is pretty much the standard at this point.
