I don’t understand why I continue to think that the solution to having too many blogs is to start another blog.

@jack I’m going opposite ways. I even planned having two blogs plus a photoblog (glass). And in the end decided to have one blog and keep the photoblog in Glass, but importing the photos here.
@pcora I frequently dream of One True Blog™ but there's just no way it'll ever happen. I'm working toward two, a "Main blog" (WordPress for now), and a "Microblog" (here). I'm attached to a couple of my other sites, so it remains to be seen if I'm strong enough to let them go :). Glass and Flickr remain, but I don't think of them as my blogs.
@jack @pcora @numericcitizen So far I’ve been keeping everything on one blog, but I’m once again contemplating microblogging separate from full length writing. One blog is convenient, no doubt, but you can argue about having a boundary between fleeting content and that of more permanence.
@pimoore My problems are mostly about the proper layout for handling both. The best version of this I've found is on my hand-made-using-Tinderbox blog and that's one of the "extras" I'm trying to leave behind.
@jack That’s a good point, as it was challenging to make both micro and long-form posts display when working on my themes (Hitchens in particular). There are more themes I want to port over, and I’m trying to figure out in my head how to make the design work with some post types.
@gregmoore @pimoore That is very much a problem, yes. And one I tend to casually ignore all too often. Not sure how to fix that and also blog the way I want. If I can get my presence down to two sites, it'll be a (slight) improvement, I hope.
@pimoore @jack @pcora @numericcitizen I have many places where I publish but each with their own goal or target audience. I'm fine with this as long as the delimiting line is clear. I removed Twitter and Medium in December, so things are improving.
@gregmoore @jack Yep, I’ve thought about this too. It’s the biggest reason apart from convenience that I haven’t separated things already. I don’t want to make it difficult for the reader anymore than I want to add friction for myself. Clearly I need to think on this more, or better yet leave myself alone and stick with the “One True Blog” as Jack expertly put it. 😆
@gregmoore @jack Thank you for not only the compliment, but sharing this perspective. It’s definitely provided food for thought, which seems to happen a lot here. 😉
@jack Remember that you are actually helping people like me !!! Instead of me moving around between different platforms and workflows, I can watch you do it ... that saves time for me 😂
So please keep up doing work that benefits our society.
