Testing out a new post type for @TIL with this post for Micro Camp.

What do you think; link-blogging on Today I Learned?

@simonwoods I like it, I’ve been trying to setup post types on my blog (based on category) so I can apply custom CSS styling to some of them, but still can’t seem to make it work. Is that what you’re doing here, and if so how did you do it?

@pimoore I haven’t done anything to the post, nope. That’s just the site-wide CSS, with some minor treatment of links and a couple of other things.

I can think of some hacky things that might work to make a sort-of post type but it’ll probably involve using HTML in each post and I’m not sure even hobbyists would want do that. I’ll play around with those ideas and see what happens.

I’m looking forward to the next few months since I’ll figure out things properly once I have access to a computer and a bigger screen.

@simonwoods Yeah it definitely feels like it would be a bit hacky to accomplish, I might just leave well enough alone. 😂

By the way, it looks like you have a padding issue in your nav menu on a phone size layout:

@pimoore Fixed! Thanks for spotting that. Now I’ll remember to test for the phone size, which thankfully is easy on the iPad.

@simonwoods I actually figured out how to do post types based on categories, which then allows you to customize them via CSS in both the single post and list view. I’m just trying some things out on my test blog but I can fill you in on what I’ve done in case you’re interested for your own site.

@pimoore That would also be a good thing to write up on custom.micro.blog. 😀 @custom
