The problem with using a computer a lot is that it is easy to forget how to set something down.

This activity is what enables us to find the right state for focus on any number of tasks.

It’s OK if you leave your computer, whatever form it takes. Nothing bad will happen.

@wearsmanyhats @simonwoods This is why I love the iPad. It’s easy to just put it down at any point, regardless of where you’re working, and take a break to do something else.

@peterimoore @wearsmanyhats It has become the perfect transition machine for me. Helps me put the big computer in its place, whilst providing greater functionality than the phone. Also! Digital note-taking as a means of getting back into regular handwriting.

@simonwoods That’s how it was for me for a while, until I found myself always picking up my iPad. Now it’s my only machine (ignoring my iPhone), and if you’d asked me a few years ago if I could see that happening I never would’ve thought it. I honestly don’t miss a desktop.

@peterimoore This was my set-up during my recent hiatus. It totally shifted my way of thinking about the majority of my time spent on machines, even if I do end up needing a full computer for any sort of work.
