@philly Hmm, I was inside and it was actually through a window. It flew away the moment I opened the door to try for a clearer shot. They are great birds to have around.

@Miraz I was just reading your link, that they’re domesticated, how fascinating! We live on the second floor and have a mix of Mourning and White-winged doves. One of them favors a plum tree nearby to nest in, and while I can’t see the nest from our vantage, I have seen some of the younger little ones as they scoot around and learn to fly and land. They’re lovely to have around, I agree.

@philly That’d be wonderful being able to see the little ones. There are a few Barbary Doves round Waikawa Beach, not heaps, but hard to tell how many. A nearby friend put up a dove cote for them which they are steadfastly ignoring!
