Anyone remember Yojimbo? I used to have a massive database of reference stuff in that app, but when the iPad came along and they never did a proper version of it I stopped using it. Last night I was thinking about using a separate app like KeepIt to store reference material in instead o... www.philbowell.me

@philbowell When you say reference materials, what are you referring to? I clip copies of articles to evernote still and save things like manuals, copies of certain documents etc. BUT I have some standard texts that I reuse which are kept in Obsidian. I know David Sparks uses Devonthink as well as obsidian but I'm not certain on his distinction.

@ChrisJWilson I think mainly articles, book highlights, that kind of thing. I’ve been clipping some things to Obisdian but it doesn’t quite feel like the right place for it.

@philbowell Yeah I haven't put any of that in Obsidian (some occasional quotes but only the best of the best). I do put all that into Evernote (especially as I've been using Readwise with its automatic export/import to Evernote).

@ChrisJWilson Yeh, I think it makes sense to keep them somewhere else so that Obsidian becomes my thinking and not a place of collecting other people’s. Evernote is an option, I haven’t looked at it for ages. Might be time to review it again, but then I like the idea of KeepIt keeping everything in the file system like Obisidian does.

@philbowell Oh I don't advise anyone really consider Evernote! They've made some...okay moves recently but I only keep it due to legacy AND I have some crazy discount on the annual premium plan (thank you living in Poland). KeepIt does sound pretty cool for that reason. I remember people comparing it to DevonThink but with a more intuitive UI and mobile experience.

@ChrisJWilson Noted, I’ll give Evernote a padding glance then. Need to have a play with KeepIt and see what it’s like. Annoyingly they don’t do a combined subscription for it.

@philbowell i still turn to Evernote for the ocr and search facility. Have you tried Craft.notes?

@Munish yeh, I like Craft but preferred Obsidian for the way it linked together. Not sure it’s right for collecting reference information either.
