The conspiratorial side of me is thinking that running shoes are getting more expensive and lasting half as long. The shoes I had have worn out considerably so I bought a new pair, which arrived today. So I’m officially marking the date.

@lmika I don’t think it’s a conspiracy 🕵️‍♂️. In fact, I just watched a video (yt link) that goes over about this in more detail. But the tldw is that clothes (and I am sure it also applies to shoes) are crappier today than they were in the past. I posted about my jeans that with less than a year of use are falling apart too. :(

It’s very hard to find good quality apparel nowadays. And it ain’t cheap.

@pcora That’s true. I know for myself I couldn’t tell you where one would get good quality clothing. Mass media advertising at all. Gotta be somewhere. Thanks for the video link. Just watched it and there’s much to think about there.

@lmika I’m slowly finding some brands that seem to care more about sustainability, buy less, buy better, etc. but it ain’t easy or cheap.
