@pcora Haha! Welcome to America. You can take leave if you are sick only if you have banked the hours, so yes, you can absolutely run out of it. In fact, in govt jobs, you have to save up your sick "leave" if you want to take maternity/paternity leave. Some private companies are more flexible but most aren't.

@stupendousman Ha! I don't think they will mind. They have stripped most of my responsibilities and removed my access to the project folders I helped create 😅 I'm guessing the two months' notice is only because the university is forcing my boss's hand.
