Apple, please do a real but simple password manager. I join my voice to many, like John Gruber and Cabel Sasser. I even suggested Ricky Mondello who’s working on the Safari team and very much involved in the password management side, to consider doing such a password manager outside of Safari on the Mac or... blog.numericcitizen.me

@timapple @numericcitizen I side with Tim on this one. First, I also believe that they would not make it work on other browsers, second, no way I am adding passwords to a service that does not have decent and fast customer support. Way too risky.

@pcora @timapple @numericcitizen I'm not sure why it's not working for you in other browsers. Passwords saved into settings work fine for me in other browsers. I don't need it often, but I just confirmed with iCab and Orion, i'm able to login to various websites that require a password from those browsers on my iPhone and iPad.

Editing to add that, I don't think passwords need their own app. I don't really care one way or the other but I don't see it as being as necessary, as is being made out to be by the Apple pundits. I can just use Spotlight and search "passwords", which takes me right to settings right to the passwords, just as if it were its own app. in other words, it's really not that difficult to access it via spotlight, though I suspect a lot of people forget that's a possibility. Also, a simple request to Siri to open passwords works fine too.

@Denny I think almost no issue is as big a deal as it is made out to be by the Apple pundits.

@petebrown Agreed! Every week is manufactured rumor speculation and drama. It's an interesting way to make a living. 🥸
