Day One is a fine journal app, but I can’t shake the idea I want to get all my words out of app databases and into plaintext… fortunately they have a good-looking JSON export. 😎👨🏽‍💻

@patrickrhone Do you have a preferred notebook that you use for journaling? Or do you regularly print from an electronic/app-based journal?

@patrickrhone @gpittman I’ll second the Writer. Fantastic notebook.

@patrickrhone Indeed! Thanks for the reminder. There are aspects of journaling with my phone instead of paper that I enjoy... but none of them are insurmountable. And the point about the fragility of digital is well-taken.

Plaintext seems the least-fragile digital option.

@patrickrhone ...Further, journaling by hand could be additive. There are things I plop into my digital journal that don’t need to be unearthed by my grandchildren (“nice walk today”), but I could always write my thoughts on paper in addition to those.

@danj Agreed on many of those countries to. Still, print it if it does seem likely something you wish to pass along.
