Want to feel dumb and a failure as a parent? Try explaining to your kid about 2-digit subtraction with regrouping, something that my old brain has totally forgotten about because, guess what, who does math this way as an adult? 😅😫😆
@Gabz I do additions and subtractions visualizing geometric shapes and parts of shapes, as puzzles. I hope my son does the same ;-)
@otaviocc I lost my ability to do mental math a long time ago. In my bench-work days, as a biochemist, even when using a calculator every conversion every digit ad every problem I had written down to be able to backtrack myself if something went wrong with the experiment. I had notebook after notebook of just calculations because I have always been terrible at math. On the other hand, I had coworkers who could do complex calculations in their heads like it was nothing.
