@crossingthethreshold Have you tried a totally clean install? Wipe the disk and re-install the latest MacOS? If it’s been 4 years worth of OS upgrades on top of each other then that could be a big part of it. Mid to late MacOS I’ve only ever really had crashes when it’s been either a build up of cludge or a hardware fault.
@DaveyCraney Thank you for the suggestion David. No, I have not tried a clean install. I’ll see how things go over the next week, and hold it as a consideration.
@crossingthethreshold Do you live close to an Apple Store? Maybe it's worth visiting one and asking for a hardware test. I did this with my old MacBook Air (2011) before getting a new one (the battery decided it was time to retire...).
My current personal device is a 13-inch MacBook Air M1 (late 2020), and it works perfectly fine. I don’t code much on it (since I use a much more powerful work computer for that), but I don’t have any reason to replace it. Plus, I prefer its keyboard to the modern ones :-)
@otaviocc I do not. I live in Maui and the nearest Apple Store is in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Having said that, there is a Mac certified service store on Maui, so maybe I should give them a visit if crashing persists? I had not thought of that. Thank you.
