Installing Windows 11 from USB for the first time. Feels like Linux because it didn’t have WiFi drivers. But also? Downloading updates with no on-screen indication of how much has to download or what is being installed.

@hjalm I’m going to listen what people have to say about it. I don’t currently have a computer that can handle W11, but if it’s getting better, I might go for it. Sounds like it isn’t quite ready yet.

@odd I think that’s sound. Today, unless your hardware comes with it, I’m not sure there is a compelling reason to update. I enjoy playing with the new. I’m running Insider builds on unsupported hardware…

@hjalm is this some sort of special version of Windows? Last time I used Windows it was Windows 2000. But I do remember spending entire weekends installing Linux, recompiling the kernel, and compiling the modem and visual card drivers. Fun days. Things are so easy these days 😂

@otaviocc Very easy compared to old school Debian or Gentoo! Microsoft has an opt-in Insiders program which is similar to public preview for Apple products or daily preview builds for Linux distros. Otherwise, you won’t be able to install Windows 11 unless you’re running with an 8th Generation or higher Intel CPU and have TPM 2.0 on your motherboard. Not sure what the requirements are for AMD CPUs.
