I’m not going to install iOS 14 until it’s public release, but I’ve already made a free space on my home screen for a widget from yr.no.

@odd That’s a really nice, simple and clean site. I just saved it to my homescreen. So much better than our own weather service 😊 Thanks.

@maique Thanks! I like it. They’re fairly accurate about the weather, but not always, but I think they’re better than The Weather Channel that comes with iOS, at least in my location. They are also cooperating with the Netatmo network of home weather stations to be even more accurate.

@odd many in Sweden prefer yr.no to SMHI

@jemostrom I didn’t know that. I’m satisfied with yr’s service too. ☀️🌤⛅️🌥☁️🌦🌧⛈🌩🌨❄️💨

@odd Cool! Nice with the Netatmo thing, I have one of those lying around somewhere, but haven’t used it in a while! Maybe I’ll get some batteries and power it up again.

@odd did you install iOS 14 Public Beta not that it is available?

@maique With the latest updates it’s even HomeKit compatible. If you choose to share the outdoor temperature, it will go into yr’s data model to make the forecast more predictable. 🌈☀️🌤⛈

@numericcitizen No, I meant I’m not going to install anything until when the public release of iOS comes out in the fall. No betas for me!

@odd @jemostrom I am one of those Swedes. Not quite sure why I started using Yr, but I really like their service now.

@MrHenko It looks like it’s used quite often. I sure hope we’ll see a widget for iOS!

@dominikhoecht I have no idea, I think you’ll have to try to find out. Good thing it’s free. It’s only localized in Norwegian and English, (for now at least), hope they’ll localize for Spanish, German, French, Russian and Chinese at a point too.

@dominikhoecht Yes, I have it on my now old Android phone also, and I have the widget on the home screen there. Happy to share it!

@odd A couple of days later, and I’m finding the results a bit off. Today it was always off by 4/5C, checking against a physical thermometer😔 Climacell got it right all day long, yr did not. Shame, since I really like the look of the app.

@maique I think thats an unacceptable deviation of the forecast. I can see why you can’t use it. Hope yr.no listen in on us!

@odd I can even get wrong forecasts, as things are hard to predict. But current conditions should not be this far off.

@maique No, especially with their Netatmo connection. Not good.

@maique I reported it as an error to yr.no, (not mentioning your name).

@odd Good morning. Also wrote them a note, and got a very quick and nice reply. They are aware of the problem.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. This is a returning problem in coastal areas I'm afraid, especially in summer time. I will make our developer group aware of it, 4-6 degrees off is more than we like to see.

Have a wonderful day in beautiful Portugal!
