What seems like two snakes or Praying Mantis' fighting is really some curled up, ribbed, papery substance.

@odd @cliffordbeshers Yes, a couple of individual corn husk leaves? (Petals?) Not good with corn anatomy, but the outer layers of the part the covers the ear.

@maique @odd @fgtech Corn husks is the correct answer. These are the inner sheaves that lie between the corn silk and the tough outer green ones. They curl up quickly as they dry.

@cliffordbeshers Beautiful photography, as always. I love the way the wood grain echoes the texture of the husks but has contrasting color. You must have done something to get the lighting perfect.
