@meandering “Their name is an intentional mispronunciation of the French word for a female singer, “chanteuse”.”

I heard “chantoozy” used in a Agatha Christie’s Poirot episode, where an American detective of the FBI uses it as a cross between “chanteuse” and “floozy”.
