@gregmoore Haha! I like this one. I will never forget “The Snowman”, that I saw on Christmas Eve morning in the early 80s. It was revolutionary made, and a similar technique was later in A-ha’s “Take on me” music video.

I will never forget “The Snowman” book by Jo Nesbø either. It made me read the entire series by him. ☃️

@odd When I was a kid, the television advertisement for that movie played nearly every Christmas. (My cousins and I were always creeped out by its haunting song.) Weirdly, I never got to see it because it was only available by ordering from that ad.

I’ll have to set aside time to watch the link you provided. I’m sure I’ll think it’s beautiful now. Thanks!

@gregmoore @odd That's the first time I've known somebody to be creeped out by Aled Jones. Although they did play it over footage of that tape player, which is a... uh, choice 😂

@gregmoore Thank you for writing about your experience with this. Yes, the song is a bit haunting, but if you see the whole thing, I think it makes it more fitting to the movie. I saw it on state television, and have strangely never seen it available on VHS. I hope you’ll enjoy it now, this many years later.

@SimonWoods It might be a bit of a cultural thing too, maybe. The UK (and Norway) have a strong and “omnipresent” choir tradition.

@odd @SimonWoods No doubt that Aled Jones wrote beautiful music but it was unsettling to a little American kid watching tv in the 1980's.🤣 Funny thing is, my parents have always been heavily involved with choirs, and took me to lots of classical concerts, so you’d think I would have been more familiarized with it. (As an adult, I specifically ask when they are singing Norwegian choral music because I like it so much.)

@cambridgeport90 Thank you for saying so! We do have many choirs in our country, both male, female and mixed, but Sølvguttene (Silver Boys) are probably the best known.
