@rcrackley Right?! The moment my daughter said she wanted to have a 90s birthday party I knew exactly what should be done. Mixtapes, and this design style would complete the loop.

@bjhess I’ve got a double deck Sony cassette player but I’ll have to try repairing one deck that’s jammed up in the mechanism. Still have all my cassettes.

@odd That’s great! Bummer that one is jammed. I just bought this one off eBay used “tested working.” I needed it to record and at first it was stopping recording at random, but after a few attempts and turning off NR (not sure if that’s related), it seems to be working!

I say get some old tapes out and ride the wave of nostalgia this weekend. :)

@bjhess Oh wow—the last one of those tapes I had was Living Colour’s Vivid on one side and The English Beat on the other.

@bjhess Yes, I might just do that! I have too many to check them all, but I believe that I still have a recording of me and my pals being on local radio 35+ years ago. It would be fun to hear that. I think I bought the cassette player in 1996 or something, so it’s probably at the peak of the technology curve - although an affordable unit.

@odd That's really cool. I hope you can find the cassette! I bet your player is in a good spot for technology. This is a Sony TC-W490. It might be a little older than '96, but not much. It's hiccuped a couple more times, so hopefully I can get a few more of these mixtapes recorded.

@bjhess The tape is long gone, but I still listen to both regularly.
