@odd Trump and Peter Thiel are buddies. Thiel and Musk, both of whom were involved in PayPal, seem to detest each other. Thiel thinks Musk is “a fraud and a braggart”, Musk things Thiel is a psychopath. I see no reason to doubt the judgment of either of them.
