At 67 I’m neither geriatric nor elderly, but am having an issue with unintended weight loss. In December 2020 I was ~59 Kg — a good weight for me. Now it’s edged below 54.5 Kg. Blood tests show nothing. Will High Calorie Smoothies for Weight Gain - The Geriatric Dietitian help?

@Miraz We have opposite problems then. I’ve adopted a largely vegan diet now, in hope that I can shred some weight. I’m a testament to that ice cream and peanuts are great for keeping or increasing weight.

@odd Is it shred, or shed weight? @miraz

@odd I think it’s usually “shed weight”, but “shredding” is a thing – I think it means the process of “getting ripped” (that is, getting very muscular) 😂

@Miraz Definitely not ideal to be losing weight inexplicably! I hope the high-cal smoothies help you out.

@odd Shed means to lose when it comes to weight.

@Miraz I hope you stay hydrated. That helps keeping the weight. That nutritionist sounded like he knows his stuff. I think almonds and yoghurt, plus frozen berries can help. Healthy fat, carbs and proteins.

@odd I drink plenty — green tea, apple juice, water. 😀

@Miraz That’s great! I drink almost too much. Probably the medications I take that does it. Hope you’ll try the smoothies, and hopefully stay at a comfortable weight.
