@baldur Happy Independence Day! 🥳 We were also ruled by the Danish, (and the Swedes), but then again, I guess Norway was claiming sovereignty over Iceland at one point too. 🇮🇸 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 🇸🇪
@hjertnes Yes, I guess Bergen and the area around it consider itself an autonomous region. 😉 Oslo however, is a mishmash of potato farmers from all over Norway, and some migrants. Very few actual Personae Osloensis.
@odd Bergen is the only places that matters 🤷♂️ If you pay attention to the way people around here call Bergen the city it doesn't leave a lot of room for the existance of other cities.
I think the reason the greather Bergen region feels like that is that we have never gotten a fair share of resources.
@hjertnes Well, I am certain every other city in the country feel the same way. My father, living in a small city in the midst of Norway also have a strong resentment of Oslo. But it’s healthy to remember that many addicts, mental patients, and a lot of other marginalized people ended up in Oslo and cost the city more than smaller places, and smaller cities. If you think about things like the opera, how many different people visit the opera? Not very many. And it is the capital of Norway after all. If it were up to me, the capital would be Trondheim, which is in the middle of the country anyway. It even was the first capital of Norway.
