@Burk Great going! I’m in a similar situation, albeit a little simpler: I just have to quit Audible and stop buying Kindle books. I saw someone here link to a service that would convert your Audiobooks, but it required me to give the app my login information and I simply won’t do that. Wish I could get epubs from the kindle books and “open” format audiobooks from the Audible audiobooks too…
Will check this article later on too.
@Burk not sure if this is something that you’re interested in or not, but in the realm of wishlists, I’ve actually setup a WordPress site for my family and I for this. We all have access and can add blog posts for items we want. If we purchase them, we delete the post. But it’s functionally a shared wishlist site, perfect for Christmas and birthday shopping.
@odd If you own a Kindle device, you can use a Calibre plugin to strip the DRM off your ebooks, at least! It might be against the TOS, but if it’s for your own personal use I think it’s ethically fine 🤷🏻♀️
@Burk Thanks for this list, I think it’ll prove handy for me too 👍🏻
@jayeless Thanks! Currently downlaoding and converting all my Audible books to mp3. This is next!
@peterimoore I like them a lot. Had a few issues with earlier firmware, but all seems to be good now. I am surprised at the lack of good options out there right now. If I had to pick again I would go with these I believe
@rishabh it’s partially because of dog fooding WordPress.com, but it’s also because it can all be done from a browser — no need for everyone to use the same app and/or device OS.
@mdrockwell I hear you. Something like TaDa list by Basecamp would have been great for you. Although the service is active, they stopped taking signups for new users a while back.
