Dear Tim,

I’ve read your note as you step down as Apple’s CEO.

I’m not as presumptuous as to speak for the entire “Apple community”, but I’m certain that my response will somehow resonate with a small but important part of said community.

Fuck right off.
Mac OS is worse because of you.
Apple is just another banal, greedy tech behemoth because of you.

At least now I won’t hear your stupid, trite platitudes at every event’s keynote.

@morrick Leadership at Apple post-Steve Jobs was never going to look the same, and judging Tim Cook by that standard alone misses the point. You can debate product decisions or software quality, but dismissing an era that delivered custom silicon, record financial performance, and a strengthened privacy among many other things stance feels less like critique and more like nostalgia frustration.

@numericcitizen It delivered all those things, while fucking up Mac OS all the same, something that could have very well been avoided.

Because all the people leading Apple after Jobs had in mind was that ‘record financial performance’. That, above all else. And with that came an unrecognisable Apple that did everything except ‘thinking different’.

I’m not nostalgic. I wanted an Apple that could treasure all the best lessons from Jobs and build on them. And what I got is not that Apple.
