I’m not sure if I’ll actually need to set up a paid subscription to Fastmail, maybe paying for one month will be needed to fully evaluate the capabilities, though, but from my current experiment with this service so far, I must say that I really like what I’m seeing. It’s certainly fast.

@numericcitizen I have been using Fastmail for over a year now and to me it is well worth the monthly subscription to get away from using gmail.

@klandwehr are you using Fastmail to “merge” different email providers a la HEY Mail ?

@numericcitizen
I use Fastmail

  • to handle my mail from another big mail provider,
  • to post mails with an domain which is hosted at another smaller provider, and
  • to be the provider for two or three other domains I own.

@thosch so you can send emails using Fastmail but from another email domain not hosted on Fastmail, right?

@numericcitizen Yes, but you have to trust them, because you have to provide the credentials.

I use application passwords for this purpose

@numericcitizen I set it up so that any thing that is address to Gmail or Apple Mail is automatically forwarded to my Fastmail account and I use Thunderbird as my email app of choice. Very slowly but surely I am updating anything that has a Gmail address to Fastmail. Hopefully someday is the far future nothing will be going to Gmail. Hope this answers your question.

@klandwehr yes, it does. To me, it’s clear that Fastmail could replace HEY Mail. I even found out that we can have a website to host files that can be downloaded (or a mini website, which is cool!).

@klandwehr @numericcitizen
I also forward (most) of my mail to Fastmail.

But I prefer to use the Fastmail (Web) App because it allows me to use all the features (especially tagging, building filters, and switching the sender address).

@thosch @klandwehr @numericcitizen I use Fastmail, too. I have FMail app on Mac and FastMail app on iOS/iPadOS.

Same setup - I forward Google-hosted work mail, and set up FastMail to “Send As” Google-hosted work mail.
