Seeing that MacWEEK cover really makes me want to walk across the lawn to Togo's Foster City and buy a salami sandwich, like it was the summer of 1993
@jsnell Is there a known online archive of MacWeek? I have been wanting to find a couple of issues.
@jsnell I miss Togos so much! They could run a subway for a day on how much bacon the put one BLT sandwich🥓!
(I am eating a BLT 🥪 I made right now - they do not really exist in Japan, unless you like egg on it 🤮).
@jsnell I miss the rumors section at the very end of the MacWeek mag...
@jsnell I want to stand up from a chair without making a noise, like it was the summer of 1993.
@jsnell reading this takes me back, both to a simpler Apple time, but also to better journalism writing time. It's like i can pick out all the things my professors drilled into me at college. Cheers Jason thanks for the read.
@matcha06 MacWEEK always felt that it was a newspaper and it was written in newspaper style. (That said, those datelines are hogwash--MacWEEK was based in SF and those writers were working at their desks on Howard Street.)
@jsnell As a Brit, I’m finding the ‘cheap Apple Watch SE for kids’ angle a lot of people are talking about quite odd. Many junior (5-11) schools here ban all digital watches and a great many secondaries (11–15) ban smartwatches and phones. So the story is going to vary wildly by country. (I’ve no idea how restricted tech is at schools in the US. I’ve only really seen varying reports re phones at the equivalent of secondary level.)
@jsnell (To clarify, I wasn’t suggesting that was your narrative. Your piece just reminded me of having seen it a lot of late.)
@craiggrannell @jsnell Same. My niece and nephew (practically neighbours to Jason) both have smartwatches. Seemed like a good idea, but when we looked into it neither school for our kids would allow it.
